lazo marsh
COMING SOON
Lazo Marsh is a large network of trails in the Comox North East Woods. You're likely to run into dog-walkers, trail-runners, and birders here due to its proximity to a marsh - go figure! This nature park is very ecologically diverse due to this large riparian (wetland) coverage and is home to over 140 species of fish and wildlife, including birds, reptiles, and amphibians. Lazo Marsh's main loop generally takes 45 minutes but our tour will take it nice and slow, lasting ~1.5 hours.
Trail stats and terrain to watch out for:
Terrain: Slight incline, roots*, rocks*
Distance: ~4 km
Trail type: Loop
Time to complete: ~90 minutes
*Please keep in mind that, with this terrain, this is an inaccessible trail for those with mobility aids (walkers, wheelchairs, etc). Those who use a cane or have a lack of balance are encouraged to inquire if this trail is right for them.
Where to Find Us
Our nature walk will begin at the Lazo Marsh Northeast Nature Trails parking lot (please see interactive map - click the pin and press “directions” to guide you to our trailhead). This lot is often covered in potholes - vehicles with higher clearance are suggested.

While first and foremost, our tours aim to teach folks local plant ID, our goal is to have you actually retain that knowledge through note-taking and repetition. This is why we provide simple note-taking resources and lead tours in a way that is engaging and interesting. Studies show our memories are more easily recalled if connected with strong memories, and we aim to create lots of joyful, peaceful, happy memories on the trail :)
